Kinderen die de wereld hebben veranderd
For this Dutch book about childrens’ rights (‘Children who changed the world’ in English), I wrote the chapter about Arshalus Mardiganian, a young woman who survived the Armenian genocide in 1915 in what is now Turkey. I travelled to the town in the east of Turkey where Arshalus, her family and all the other Armenians were deported from. (For more details, read the blog post I wrote after my visit.) About 20 children who made an impact appear in the book, including Anne Frank, Malala Yousafzai, Kim Phuc, Ishmael Beah, Ruby Bridges, Nkosi Johnson and Helen Keller.
Published on 20 November 2014, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. You can order the book here. Publisher: Pixel Perfect Publications.
