Our Istanbul
I read a lot of newspapers, but the local rag is not one of them. Probably it’s called ‘Our Istanbul’ or something like that. I’m told this rag publishes a list of which days the water will be cut off in which parts of the city – that’s how the municipality tries to make the water supplies last for the whole summer. If I had read ‘Our Istanbul’ I would have taken a shower very early this morning, before the water was turned off on the whole of the Anatolian side of town. And I would not have been gazing blankly at a dry tap this afternoon around two, when I needed a quick freshen-up between a deadline and an appointment. And there would not be a big filthy fly circling around my head right now.
